Ultra-Covert Back-Up Tracking Product

Digit D-Micro7

Small Device. Serious Back-Up.

It fits on a R5 coin and still reports the trip. The Digit D-Micro7 is a miniature wired Bluetooth tracker, so it hides where larger units cannot. Instead of a SIM card, it relays its location through compatible phones nearby, so you get trip reports on your Digit platform as a hidden back-up to your primary tracker.

What It Is

Digit D-Micro7: The Bluetooth Back-Up Tracker Built To Stay Hidden

In short The Digit D-Micro7 is a coin-sized, wired Bluetooth back-up tracker from DigitFMS, measuring approximately 9.5 × 21 × 4 mm. Once hidden inside a vehicle or powered asset, it needs no SIM card or battery; instead, it relays its location through compatible phones nearby and builds trip reports in DigitWeb. As a result, it adds a second recovery layer behind your primary tracker. It is also available through DigitFMS branches across South Africa.

Most recovery plans still rest on a single tracking unit. However, a full-size unit only has so many places to hide. At approximately 9.5 × 21 × 4 mm, the Digit D-Micro7 fits on a R5 coin, so it goes where larger trackers cannot. As a result, it is harder to find and remove.

Because it is wired to the asset’s own permanent power, the D-Micro7 needs no internal battery. Instead of a SIM card, it uses Bluetooth and compatible mobile phones nearby to report its location to your Digit platform. Meanwhile, it builds trip reports with an estimated distance and general route, at a very low running cost.

In other words, the D-Micro7 is not a replacement for your primary tracker; it is the hidden second layer behind it. So pair it with a unit from the Digit vehicle tracking range or a stolen vehicle recovery solution. It also protects lower-value assets that would not justify a full tracking unit.

How It Works

01Hidden and poweredDuring installation, the D-Micro7 is wired to the asset’s permanent power supply and concealed.
02Detected by phones nearbyMeanwhile, it transmits a unique Bluetooth identifier that compatible mobile phones within range pick up.
03Location relayedThe closest phone then sends its location, with the identifier, over the mobile network.
04Seen on your Digit platformFinally, the position is routed to the Digit server and shown in DigitWeb tracking and the Digit applications.

Key Features

Digit D-Micro7 Key Features: Small Device, Serious Back-Up

Fits on a R5 coinAt approximately 9.5 × 21 × 4 mm, it goes where larger trackers cannot, so it is harder to find and remove.
Trip reportingBuilds trip reports with an estimated distance and general route, while keeping signal transmission to a minimum.
No SIM cardLocation is relayed through compatible mobile phones nearby, so there is no SIM card to buy or manage — and running costs stay low.
Wide-voltage inputBecause the supply range is 5–60 V DC, one device can protect motorbikes, cars, trucks, boats, golf carts and other powered assets.
Minimal power drawBecause it draws approximately 6 mA at 12 V, the D-Micro7 is designed to stay permanently connected to the asset’s own power.
One Digit platformFully compatible with DigitWeb tracking and the Digit applications, so the D-Micro7 sits alongside your other Digit devices.

Why Add A D-Micro7

Four Reasons To Add A D-Micro7 Back-Up Tracker

Goes Where Larger Trackers Cannot

It fits on a R5 coin, so it hides in places a full-size unit cannot fit.

A Second Layer Of Recovery

It works alongside your primary tracker, so recovery no longer rests on a single unit.

Trip Reports On Your Platform

Trip reports appear in DigitWeb and the Digit applications, so you see an estimated distance and general route.

Protection For Lower-Value Assets

It also covers assets that would not justify a full tracking unit, with no SIM card to manage.

Important To Know

Digit D-Micro7 FAQs: What It Does, And What It Does Not

Clarity before commitment. These answers are based on the official factsheet, so you know exactly what the D-Micro7 can and cannot do before you buy.

What is the Digit D-Micro7?

The Digit D-Micro7 is a miniature wired Bluetooth tracking device from DigitFMS, built as a back-up or ultra-covert layer for stolen vehicle and asset recovery. Because it measures approximately 9.5 × 21 × 4 mm, it fits on a R5 coin; it also runs off the asset’s own 5–60 V DC power, needs no SIM card and builds trip reports on the Digit platform.

How does the D-Micro7 report its location?

The D-Micro7 has no SIM card and does not determine its own position. Instead, it transmits a Bluetooth identifier that compatible mobile phones within range detect, and the location of the nearest phone is relayed to the Digit server. Because reporting depends on phones being nearby, update frequency and accuracy will vary.

What do the D-Micro7 trip reports show?

Trip reports show an estimate of the distance travelled and the general route taken, built from locations relayed by compatible phones nearby. As a result, detail varies with how many phones the asset passes.

Is the D-Micro7 a replacement for my tracking system?

No, because the D-Micro7 is a back-up or covert layer intended for stolen vehicle and asset recovery. Unlike a fleet management device, it does not provide continuous real-time tracking.

How is the D-Micro7 different from the Digit D-Lay?

Both are hidden back-up layers, but they work differently. The Digit D-Lay is a cellular covert recovery tracker with 4G LTE, GSM fallback and an internal backup battery, so it keeps reporting after the power is cut. The D-Micro7, by contrast, has no SIM card and no battery: it relays its location through compatible phones nearby and stops reporting if its supply is removed. Even so, it fits on a R5 coin and runs at a very low cost.

Does the D-Micro7 need a battery or a SIM card?

Neither, because there is no SIM card and no internal battery. However, the device must be connected to permanent power of 5–60 V DC in the asset, and it will not report if that supply is removed.

What should I know about the D-Micro7 service?

The D-Micro7 relies on third-party networks that DigitFMS does not own or control. Those providers may therefore change or withdraw their service without notice, which could affect or end the device’s operation. We tell you this upfront because you should know before you buy.

Is the D-Micro7 insurance-approved?

Not at present: the D-Micro7 does not currently carry insurance approval, so it should not be relied on to meet an insurer’s tracking requirement. Instead, ask your DigitFMS branch about approved tracking solutions.

Which assets can the D-Micro7 be fitted to?

It suits any asset with a permanent 5–60 V DC power supply, such as cars and trucks, motorbikes, boats and watercraft, golf carts, generators, gate motors, mobile assets, and displays, computers and servers. Your DigitFMS branch will then advise on suitability and installation.

Where can I get a Digit D-Micro7 in South Africa?

Through the DigitFMS branch network across South Africa. Use the enquiry form on this page or find your nearest branch with the DigitFMS branch locator; the branch will then advise on suitability and installation.

Specifications are taken from the official Digit D-Micro7 factsheet. In addition, location reporting depends on compatible phones nearby and on third-party networks that DigitFMS does not own or control. Also note that the D-Micro7 does not currently carry insurance approval; for insurer-specified tracking, see stolen vehicle recovery.

The Rest Of The Range

Digit D-Micro7 Is The Back-Up — These Are The Anchors

The D-Micro7 is built to sit behind a primary tracker, so pair it with one of these anchors. When you need reporting after a power cut, the D-Lay carries a backup battery.
